I am so excited to become part of the Bulldog Nation this year!!! I started my career teaching sixth grade math and science at Opelika Middle School. When my family relocated to Oxford, AL, I took a six year leave from education to take on another very challenging job....Stay-at-Home-Mom! When I returned to my hometown, Montgomery, I resumed my teaching/administrative career again. I entered the Elmore County system as the At Risk Coordinator at Wetumpka Middle School. During my three years at WMS, I also served as the Instructional Assistant, Title I Coordinator, ESL Coordinator, PST Coordinator, and sixth grade teacher. Following that, I spent three and a half years at Redland Elementary as the administrative assistant.
I am married to my "rock-star" husband, Michael Wright, and we have four children. Tate is 15, Emory and Alex are 13, and Izzy is 12. Yes, they keep me very busy when I am not at HHS. They are all very involved in school, sports, and church life. We also have a precious Yorkshire Terrier, Sipsey, named after the Sipsey Wilderness. As a family, we love spending time together at the lake, taking road trips, playing sports, hiking, and just hanging out.
My love for education began as a child while pretending to be my younger brother's school teacher, which later turned into a passion to empower as many children as possible. I believe all students are capable of learning and must be held to high expectations. I am also passionate in regard to not just addressing the academic needs of a student but also the importance of social and emotional learning as well.
